Book blurb:
We begin with Maggie and Caleb in the clutches of a new enemy: the Virtuoso council. Not only do they have to deal with the consequences of taking the lives of the Watsons and the council attempting to take Maggie away to keep their precious Visionary safe, but they must deal with Marla as well. All are determined to undermined, control and use Caleb and Maggie's rare gifts for their own uses, some wish to destroy them entirely. Then Maggie's father and Bish are threatened but the council forbids the presence of humans. Peter and the family fight and stand beside them every step of the way to save Maggie's father, to keep Caleb and Maggie together when the corrupted council is so set on keeping them apart and to stop Marla and whatever she has up her sleeve. Then Maggie has the shock of her life when she discovers something about her real father. It may change everything for everyone.
My opinion:
Once again, Mrs Crane bring us in the universe of the Virtuoso, making us wish we could be one of them! The beautiful relationship between Caleb and Maggie is better than ever. They are powerful and they know it. The council knows it too, and tries to control Maggie. If that wasn't enough, the Watson are still there, trying to hurt the couple.
Every emotion that Maggie feels is well described, the reunification is well written. But at some point, I had enough of the Watsons. I just felt like three books with the same ennemies is maybe too much. Okay, we add Bish, Jim and the council in that equation, but they don't want to kill Maggie for the third time in a few weeks or months! Yes, the "enemy" changes in the family, but they are still the same family!
So yeah, at this point I was tired of them, and the author kind of resolve the problem by the end of the book, but I didn't feel like the punishment was enough. I think the Watsons deserves way worst than that! We get to see a little more of Lyne and Kyle, which is good and the tension between Bish and Jen gets unbearable! But they do find a way to be together and not imprint, which maybe isn't the best way to do.
I do still recommend this book! It is still very good, just maybe not as much as the others from my opinion anyway.
