Book blurb:

Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. She was smart and on track but then her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has. Then she meets Caleb. She saves his life and instantly knows there's something about him that's intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

My opinion:

This is the very first book of the series. I had it in audiobook and I was addicted at the first listening. But being a student and all, I put my money on school books instead... Until this year. I started 2018 by buying the kindle version of the first and read it again... It's been less than a week, and I have about 5 of the 7 books (including the novels) already finished.

Maggie is a naive 17 years old. I wish it was easy to describe her, but she is a complex girl. Her mom left her and her dad months ago, her dad is just a shell (Bella from twilight kind of shell) until she meets Caleb. They imprint. Sounds familiar? Yeah, well it is far from being the same than twilight if you are like me and you thought of that! It is way more complex and comes with so much more positive!

That particular book set the pace and mood for the series. Shelly is an incredibly talented writer and she proves it in this installment. Are you emotional while reading? If so, you will jump of happiness, smile with love, get angry at Marcus and maybe even Kyle! That one can be a pain in the arse sometimes! Everything is well described, even the pain is excruciating, but this is a very good book that will bring out your emotions, and your wish to get to live that true love! Everything kind of happen so fast, but in the same time it feels perfect.

Some of the events are just easy to see coming, and some are just surprising, but my only question about that book, is why Max didn't teach more self-defense to Maggie after the first kidnapping attempt? I still have no answer, but if I get one, I'll let you know!

Where to buy?

Bonus, here is the book teaser that Shelly posted on her website:
